CMA Al-Karāmah Burial Committee
Serving with dignity, compassion and respect
Financial support for funeral expenses for members
The Management Committee is committed to supporting all members of our jamaat, particularly in times of loss and bereavement. In response to the current economic climate, we have started our Funeral Expense Support initiative which will be available to all Cutchi members who reside and pass away in Blackburn. It is our intention to provide this support to include all members of our community, fostering a spirit of unity and belonging.
The support covers :
Graveside costs - £2620.-- as set by Blackburn with Darwen Council. Weekend rates are £3110.--
Food costs - Up to a maximum of £1000.-- Catering will be arranged by CMA
Mosque donation costs - Up to £200.-- Donation towards mosque if required
Transportation costs from home/hospital to cemetery
This initiative ensures that the contributions received from the jamaat are reinvested for the benefit of our members. The CMA will cover all the above funeral expenses including transportation of the deceased from the hospital or home to the mosque or designated location, gravesite and burial costs, as well as catering arrangements for immediate family and community members on the day of the funeral.
We deeply value the pride, unity, and compassion that our community embodies. As we move forward, we are committed to making this support accessible to every member, strengthening our bonds and ensuring no family feels alone during difficult times. We ask members not to think of this as charity but as an investment back into our community and for the benefit of our members who have devoted their life in the service of our community. Every Cutchi who dies in our community deserves respect and dignity at this sacred and blessed time when they return back to our creator.
Bereaved families are encouraged to reach out for assistance. You may contact President Mo Suleman directly on 07387 175598, email us at Blackburncma@gmail.com, or connect with any member of the Management Committee or our Trustees. We pledge to handle all arrangements sensitively, ensuring the utmost respect and dignity to the family of the bereaved.
As guidance, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever relieves a believer’s distress, Allah will relieve his distress on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever helps ease someone in difficulty, Allah will make it easy for him in this world and the next.” (Muslim)
Together, let us continue to nurture a caring and supportive community.

Overview of Funeral Services
Support Through Your Time of Loss
At the Cutchi Muslim Association, we understand that losing a loved one is one of life's most challenging experiences. Our dedicated team is committed to providing a range of funeral services that are specifically designed to meet the needs of the families we serve. We take pride in ensuring that every aspect of the service is handled with the utmost respect and compassion, allowing families to focus on their grieving process while we take care of the details.
Our management committee and volunteers encompass all aspects of funeral arrangements, from coordinating with local authorities to planning funeral processes with respect and dignity. We provide guidance in selecting suitable burial and help in managing necessary paperwork, making the process as seamless as possible. Our goal is to alleviate the burden on families during this difficult time and to honour cultural and religious traditions that are important to our community.
In addition to practical arrangements, we also offer emotional and religious support for family members who may need someone to organise all the cultural rituals ranging from transport, ghusl to janaza. The Cutchi Muslim Association is a supportive community that stands by you in your time of grief, ensuring that you are not alone during this challenging chapter of your life.
Funeral Services
Kafan Arrangements
We are also funding the preparation of kafan (shroud covering the deceased) and ghusl mayyit accessories packs aligned to our Islamic values to be made available to our member families in the event of a demise in their family
Blackburn Cemetery Map
We will be producing a register/database of all our Cutchi marhoom (upon whom mercy has been bestowed) who have passed away in Blackburn with names and their burial site number on a map.
This will enable us to assist with future maintenance of the graves, inform our future generations where their elders are buried so they can pay their respects and recite prayers for the marhoom and ensure that they are not forgotten.
Grave Maintenance
Our CMA Al-Karamah Burial sub-committee team are also volunteering to clean up the graves of any of our marhoom members who are buried in Blackburn Pleasington cemetery. This will be carried out on behalf of any elderly/disabled members, families living or working out of town, or who have no next of kin left in Blackburn and/or those who cannot physically do this for themselves. Please contact us with the details of the gravesite number via email or WhatsApp and we will organise this on your behalf
Ghusl Training
We are in the process of organising workshops on how to carry out ghusl for our deceased. The workshops will take place in Masjid-e-Raza, Randal Street, Blackburn, by an experienced Imam. This training is aimed at both our male and female members and has been scheduled for September 2025. Any members interested in participating can contact us.
